We congratulate Kleine Zalze on receiving a GOLD medal for their Vineyard Selection Barrel Fermented Chardonnay 2017.
And we are pleased to announce that the following wines in the Vinimark portfolio were awarded Silver medals:
Lanzerac Chardonnay Stellenbosch 2016
Robertson Winery Constitution Road Chardonnay 2016
Rietvallei JMB Chardonnay 2017
The grapes for the Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Chardonnay 2017 come from three blocks in Stellenbosch and a single block in Robertson. Only the free run portion of the juice was used for this selection. The wine spent eight months in barrel before blending and bottling. A combination of 60% new and the rest second and third fill 400L French oak barrels were used.
Robertson Winery’s Constitution Road Chardonnay 2016, was selected from premium vineyards with well-weathered, deep Karoo soils, containing generous lime content which results in refreshing acidity in the wines. This Chardonnay was matured to perfection for 13 months under the watchful eye of winemaker, Jacques Roux. It wowed judges with its interwoven aromas of citrus, buttered toast, marmalade and vanilla.
The French oak matured, naturally fermented chardonnay from Rietvallei Estate, JMB Chardonnay 2017, is a cuvée, nurtured in site specific vineyards. This full-bodied wine offers a complex nose and palate and pairs well with roasted chicken, grilled duck or creamy poultry and fish dishes.
The newly released Bon Courage Le Terroir Wooded Chardonnay 2016 which also received a Silver medal is available from the farm. It is delicately oak-matured and is an excellent example of the perfect balance between citrus and melons graciously sharing space with toasty vanilla flavours.
